Re “Defense Increase Biggest Since ‘66,” Feb. 5: The Bush administration is determined to frighten the American people by constantly speaking of the dangers of terrorism. The reason for this is to justify the huge amount of money it wants to spend on defense. There is political gain for the Bush administration and gain for the corporations that profit from war. I hope their “words of mass destruction” will be shown to be an exaggeration.
