* Advantica Restaurant Group Inc. changed its name to Denny’s Corp. after selling its Coco’s and Carrows restaurant chains for $32.5 million. The Spartanburg, S.C.-based company acquired the chains with the purchase of Denny’s Irvine-based FRD Acquisition unit.
* MBNA Corp., the world’s second-largest credit-card issuer, said second-quarter profit rose 20% to $457.8 million, or 52 cents a share. Sales and cash advances rose 11% to $39.2 billion.
* First Data Corp. said second-quarter profit rose 22% to $298.6 million, or 39 cents a share, on increased demand from migrant workers and immigrants for its Western Union service to send money home.
