Snowmobile Ban

Your July 4 editorial on the Yellowstone Park snowmobile decision, “Protect a Precious Place,” was insulting. The “public” support for the ban came from a fairly small cadre of tax-sheltered, nonprofit special-interest groups that spent millions of dollars in foundation grants on a sophisticated political lobbying effort--focused not on the people who would be most affected by the ban but on urban areas safely insulated from the economic and social upheaval such a ban will cause.
I would like to remind The Times that America is a representative republic. As Americans, the folks who have built their communities, lives and families around Yellowstone Park still have rights, rights that deserve respect. Kindly show some.
