Police were searching Monday for a teacher who had confessed to molesting seven boys at a Roman Catholic school but failed to surrender to begin his jail term.
Armando Garcia, 42, confessed last month to molesting 12- to 14-year-old boys between 1997 and 2000 at St. Lawrence Brindisi School, where he taught math.
Garcia, who was sentenced to one year in jail, now could be sentenced to 18 years and eight months in prison, according to the district attorney’s office. When Garcia was sentenced June 10, he was given two weeks to turn himself in.
