A woman who police think may have had gang ties died after being shot twice in the head at close range in a Westminster neighborhood.
Xuan Trung Thi Li, 27, was shot Wednesday night and died at UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange.
Investigators said Li had recently moved to San Diego from Westminster and had been dating a suspected gang member.
“One of the officers here was able to identify her through that affiliation,” said Westminster Police Lt. Mike Schliskey. “We don’t believe she was involved in a gang herself. We don’t know if this is some kind of retaliation or not.”
Police are searching for Li’s boyfriend, as well as any possible witnesses to the shooting.
