A man was shot and critically wounded at a busy intersection Thursday afternoon in a possibly gang-related act, police said.
The shooting on Santa Monica Boulevard near Vine Street occurred around 3 p.m., said Los Angeles police Det. Thomas Chevolek. The unidentified victim, in his early 20s, was hospitalized in critical condition, but is expected to survive, Chevolek said.
Police said three men--described as in their late teens or early 20s--may have been following the victim’s car in a dark gray or black older-model sedan.
As traffic stopped just east of Vine, one man got out of the car and opened fire on the victim, Chevolek said.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call detectives at (213) 485-6410 or (877) LAW-FULL.
