Two climbers died in a raging snowstorm atop Mt. Rainier and rescue workers were searching for another lost climber, park rangers said.
Two men and two women were camped at the 14,410-foot summit in a snow cave that collapsed, prompting one man to hike down to 7,800 feet and call for help from a cellular phone, said Maria Gillett at the Mt. Rainier National Park Ranger Station. He was airlifted to safety.
The caller said the other man had become disoriented in the blizzard and fell to his death, while the two women stayed behind to wait for help.
Gillett said one woman was found dead and that searchers were looking for the other woman.
