Father Must Face Justice in Daughter’s Shooting

Re “Father Pleads Not Guilty in Girl’s Shooting,” Oct. 18:
Prosecutors are doing exactly what should be done by holding Jeffrey A. West criminally responsible. He willfully bought the gun, loaded the gun and walked into a room where his daughter was.
Whether it be gross negligence or lack of a brain, West injured his daughter and needs to suffer the consequences. “Model parents,” as his attorney described them, don’t act so recklessly when they’re around innocent children.
Why didn’t he go into a different room? Why didn’t he wait to inspect the gun until she went to bed? All are questions this devoted and responsible parent wants answered. I’m sure he’s devastated and mortified. We all are! This was a crime, with precious Madison paying the biggest price.
