Where Has the Love Gone in Tennis?

T.J. Simers’ Nov. 7 article on the WTA Championships left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. The headline, along with the picture of Justine Henin, gave such a negative first impression that I (an avid tennis player) almost didn’t read it.
The headline blasted the entire event; in essence saying that it wasn’t worth anyone’s time. If I were associated with the WTA, I would demand a retraction.
Maybe Mr. Simers shouldn’t have talked to any tennis players, or bothered to show up, out of respect to the players, the tournament and the readers of the L.A. Times.
Maybe I missed it, but was there a point to his rude article?

Recently, the Vatican announced the names of six people elevated to sainthood. These good people spent most of their lives taking care of the needs of poor wretched miserable souls of the world.
I was surprised and somewhat saddened to find that the list did not include Mrs. Simers.
