Leaking Oil Tanker Towed Away From Coast

Salvage tugs hauled a stricken oil tanker away from Spain’s craggy northwestern coast as authorities battled to contain a 20-mile slick threatening the region’s pristine beaches.
The tanker, carrying 77,000 tons of fuel oil, spilled an estimated 5,000 tons of oil before strong winds subsided around midday, allowing two tugs to attach tow lines to the vessel.
