Taiwan and China

Re “Sign Directs Sister Cities to Diplomatic Soap Opera,” Nov. 16: By changing the sign “Taipei, Taiwan” to “Taipei Municipality, Taiwan, China” on L.A.’s Sister City Monument [in downtown Los Angeles], Los Angeles has indeed abandoned its integrity and helped to promote China’s lie that Taiwan is a part of China. Taiwan is an independent, sovereign country with its own people, territory, democratically elected government, armed forces. The People’s Republic of China, since its founding over 50 years ago, has not ruled Taiwan even for a single day.
