Germany calls off Jackson probe

German police said Friday they would not launch a formal investigation into whether Michael Jackson committed a crime by dangling his baby from a hotel window before hundreds of startled fans earlier this week. A police spokesman said there was no evidence a crime was committed.
On Thursday, police said they had started a preliminary probe into the incident, which was broadcast internationally.
“The investigation has been called off by state prosecutors,” police spokesman Matthias Pranger said. “They said there was no proof that the child had been subjected to a traumatic experience that would have a detrimental impact on his development, thus eliminating any reason to investigate further.”
