Rogers Stopped as Michigan State Falls to Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Beginning the game ranked 116th in the nation in pass defense, Iowa came up with a plan to stop Michigan State receiver Charles Rogers on Saturday -- study film and frustrate him with physical play.
It worked.
The Hawkeyes held Rogers to five catches for 78 yards and ended his NCAA record streak of 14 consecutive games with a touchdown reception. The defense also collected four sacks, forced two fumbles and intercepted three passes as No. 17 Iowa defeated Michigan State, 44-16, in a Big Ten Conference game.
The victory made Iowa (6-1, 3-0 in conference) bowl eligible, and the Hawkeyes share the Big Ten lead with Ohio State.
Iowa held Michigan State (3-3, 1-1) to 186 yards passing and 58 rushing.
The Hawkeyes’ offense, which entered the game leading the Big Ten, had only 284 yards.
