From Times Staff Reports
Homicide detectives are investigating burned human remains that were found in a field.
Officials Saturday were trying to identify the body, which was too badly charred to determine the gender, Deputy Coroner Erik Arbuthnot said.
A passerby found the remains Friday afternoon near Avenue M and 78th Street West, Sheriff’s Deputy Sonia Parra said.
Authorities did not know how long the body might have been in the field.
