Mark Matuzak, L.A. Loyola: The sophomore upset defending City Section champion Manuel Ruiz of Sepulveda Monroe to win the Division I boys’ race of the Bell-Jeff Invitational in Griffith Park and lead the Cubs to the team title.
Michael Haddan, Irvine Woodbridge: Won the Division II junior boys’ race of the Dana Hills Invitational with a 14:29 clocking that broke the junior course record for the three-mile distance.

Michelle Pantaleo, Burbank Providence: Had 21 kills in a 15-7, 15-1, 11-15, 15-3 victory over Burbank Burroughs.
Frannie Felder, North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake: Had 15 kills in a 15-7, 15-1, 15-7 victory over Simi Valley Royal.

Scott Langendoen, Arcadia: Had a school-record 13 goals in a 16-15 loss to Hemet.
Tim Hutten, Los Alamitos: Scored six goals, including the winner in overtime, in an 8-7 victory over Anaheim Esperanza.
