Behind the Terror

Re “No Link to Extremists in LAX Shootings,” April 12: So the FBI has deemed Hesham Mohamed Hadayet’s killing of two people at the El Al Airlines ticket counter at LAX last year an “act of terrorism.” Did they ignore that Hadayet, who was shot dead by a security guard, was depressed, in major debt, had a loser business, was abandoned by his wife and children, who fled to their Egyptian homeland to avoid his violent temper, faced deportation and was alone celebrating his birthday on that very July 4th day? Never mind the personal problems that might have led to his terrible acts and ugly fate; blame it on terrorism. Don’t tell Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld -- he may want to retaliate by bombing Cairo.
