A 13-year-old Delhi middle school student was shot in the hip as he walked with a friend to class Tuesday in what police believe was a gang-related attack.
The boy was transported by ambulance to a Turlock hospital. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, said Merced County Undersheriff Bill Blake.
Blake said the shooting occurred about 8:15 a.m. in a parking lot at the Delhi Education Park. He said the two boys exchanged words with two unidentified adult males in a white Lincoln Town Car. A single shot was fired from the car from about 50 feet away, Blake said.
