When did Los Angeles Philharmonic audiences forget that it is not appropriate to applaud between the movements of a symphonic work?
Perhaps some people felt so overwhelmed by the phenomenal impact of the sound in Disney Hall that they simply could not help themselves. Whatever the reason, it was an embarrassing display that damaged the continuity of Mahler’s Sixth Symphony last weekend.
