Woman Accused of DUI, Manslaughter in Crash

A Los Angeles woman has been booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence in the death of a motorist Thursday night, authorities said.
Police said Shandra Jai, 51, was driving east on Sherman Way at 9:30 p.m. when her vehicle struck a van driven by Jose Alcaras, who was driving south on Tujunga Avenue. Alcaras, 59, died later at an area hospital, police said. Jai was released Friday from Van Nuys Jail after posting a $100,000 bond.
