A 20-year-old North Hollywood man was charged Tuesday with 17 felony counts stemming from a series of rapes, abductions and other crimes against women and girls in the San Fernando Valley.
Andrew Saethong pleaded not guilty to all charges, which include attempted kidnapping to commit rape, assault with intent to commit rape, commission of a lewd act on a child, sodomy and oral copulation, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Saethong, who could face multiple life terms in prison if convicted, is being held in Los Angeles County Jail in lieu of $15.1-million bail. His trial is expected to begin in September.
The charges stem from attacks that occurred between Dec. 12, 2001, and Oct. 18, 2002, in east and northwest Valley neighborhoods, Los Angeles Police Department detectives said.
Saethong’s alleged victims ranged in age from 14 to 26, detectives said. Five were younger than 18.
