Getting Paid for Familial Duties
Anyone wondering what’s wrong with our workers’ compensation insurance law need only read “Pay for Family Caregivers a Workers’ Comp Secret” (Personal Finance, June 22).
This is, of course, but a small part of the whole home-care insanity in which those who know the system can get money from the government for doing what 99% of families do because they are families.
The notion that Paul Smith is going to collect $21 an hour for “nearly full-time care” for driving his wife to the doctor really says all that needs to be said about why we’re having a crisis.
