Kudos for Rome’s cat custodians

I can’t remember when I have read an article in the Travel section as interesting as John Henderson’s “In Rome, a Different Kind of Love Among the Ruins” (June 29).
I’m a cat lover, and it warmed the cockles of my heart to know there are people in this world who go out of their way to be more than kind to stray cats.
When properly cared for, these beautiful, loving creatures will return that kindness and affection in their own inimitable ways.
Many years ago my wife and I came across a cat refuge very close to the beach near the tourist resort of Torremolinos, Spain. It made our visit all the more memorable and left us with a warm feeling about the people’s relationships with unfortunate stray cats.
