Voit Development Co. will start construction this month on Burbank Airport Commerce Center, a $44-million, 480,000-square-foot industrial park adjacent to the Burbank Airport.
The site, formerly part of a Lockheed facility, was sold to Voit by the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority for $16.3 million in a transaction that closed last week.
The parcel became available for sale after the airport authority failed to obtain approval from the city of Burbank to build a passenger terminal.
The Burbank Airport Commerce Center, slated for completion next March, will consist of 16 buildings ranging from 9,755 square feet to 50,000 square feet for sale or for lease, according Tim Regan, vice president of development and acquisitions for Woodland Hills-based Voit.
Project architect is Ware Malcomb of Irvine. Valley Commercial Contractors, Woodland Hills, will be general contractor.
