The overseas box office for “The Matrix Reloaded” has now reached an estimated $300.6 million, bringing its worldwide total to nearly $540 million. Warner Bros. reported the film opened in Japan at 631 venues and grossed an estimated $18.7 million including sneaks for that market’s biggest opening weekend of all time. Without the sneaks figures, “The Matrix Reloaded” grossed $11 million, leaving it in third place behind the two “Harry Potter” movies in Japan.
Meanwhile, the controversial documentary “Capturing the Friedmans” grossed $69,920 over the weekend at five theaters for a per venue average of $13,984. The film has taken in $169,654 to date.
