Fleischer Will Leave White House

Regarding Ari Fleischer’s decision to quit as Bush’s press secretary, May 20: I always wondered how Press Secretary Ari Fleischer could maintain a straight face when defending his boss’ (Dubya’s) failures in just about every area. It could not have been an easy task as he attempted to “spin” his way out of the many serious problems we have incurred since President Bush swaggered into office.
Now that Fleischer has shown a little integrity by resigning, just as others have done, perhaps his boss could follow that path. The United States and the rest of the world could only benefit by this. I will not hold my breath, as Bush has long proven he is not man enough, with very little integrity, honesty or compassion, to do the “right thing” for our country.

Regardless of the reasons given for his resignation, the true cause of Fleischer’s resignation is that he just couldn’t continue to say those things with a straight face.

Now that he’s stepping down as White House press secretary, Fleischer is sure to receive lucrative employment offers from Halliburton, Enron, Fox News and several other companies where blithely lying to the American people is part of the job description.

Fleischer is leaving the White House to work for the private sector.
Gee, hasn’t he been doing that since the last presidential election?
