Advocates for Animals Rally at Official’s Home
- Share via
About a dozen supporters of the Animal Defense League protested Wednesday night outside the home of Jerry Greenwalt, general manager of the L.A. Department of Animal Services.
A temporary restraining order bars members of the league from going within 100 yards of Greenwalt, his wife, or his home or office.
Several members named in the order remained about a block from the house during the protest, monitored by police.
The league alleges that city shelters kill thousands of animals unnecessarily. Santa Monica Councilman Herb Katz, at Greenwalt’s home, said, “To do this to someone is absolutely sick. Jerry is a kind soul.”
