From Times Wire Reports
Two men and a boy whose inflatable raft capsized in heavy surf off the northern Sonoma County coast were rescued by the sheriff’s department helicopter and a surfer.
Abalone divers Rene Chacon and Lyman Chan and the 8-year-old boy were in the water off Shell Beach in the Sea Ranch area for nearly 20 minutes before a sheriff’s department rescue crew plucked them to safety.
Aiding the rescuers on Saturday was John Nagle of Graton.
Chacon, 43, and Chan, 34, both of San Francisco, were wearing wetsuits and refused medical help once ashore.
