A single-engine airplane crashed into a power pole early Saturday, cutting power to about 2,000 homes for hours but causing only minor injuries to the pilot, authorities said.
The Piper Cherokee PA-28 crashed at Sutter Avenue near Van Nuys Boulevard about 3:30 a.m., Los Angeles police said.
An electrical wire fell onto Metro Rail tracks, disrupting service for several hours, said Randy Hough of the Department of Water and Power. The homes regained power by Saturday evening, Hough said. The crash was under investigation.
