Car Fire Spreads to Brush, Burns 7 Acres

A single-car crash sparked a 7-acre brush fire Sunday that briefly threatened the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, where thousands of people were attending a car show.
No evacuations were ordered, and the fire was under control in about an hour, said Capt. Steve Miller, a spokesman for the Orange County Fire Authority.
The blaze began about 1:30 p.m. after a distracted driver heading north on the Laguna Freeway lost control on the southbound San Diego Freeway connector, Miller said. The vehicle hit a curb and burst into flames, Miller said.
There were no injuries, and the accident is under investigation, he said.
