RE “In Wartime, This Lawyer Has Got Bush’s Back,” by Anne-Marie O’Connor, Dec. 12: Professor John Yoo’s arguments, stripped of their legalese, are nothing less than a modern restatement of the divine right of kings to rule absolutely. The good professor is willing to overlook not only our Constitution, but the Magna Carta as well.
Rejecting 800 years of political progress is quite a daring leap backward. Congratulations, Dr. Yoo! I am sure right-wing think tanks are already salivating at the thought of adding you to their payrolls.

JOHN YOO advocates turning the due process of law protected by the Constitution upside down, which has already brought shame upon the United States’ adventure in Iraq. He may be a soft-spoken advocate, but so is Osama bin Laden.
