Prison Segregation

Re “Justices Reject Segregation in State’s Prisons,” Feb. 24: I guess hell must have frozen over and pigs do fly since I never thought I would see the day where I would think Justices Clarence Thomas and Antonin Scalia are the sole voices of reason in a Supreme Court decision. They are the only two justices who understand that desegregating a prison is far different from desegregating a school or neighborhood.
For the other justices to blindly follow the letter of the law and ignore the realities of our state prison system, and order them to be desegregated, will only increase the violence and put our guards in harm’s way.
