A body was recovered from the waters of Vail Lake near Temecula as Riverside County officials were searching for missing Homeland resident Sammy Cooper late Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
The 53-year-old disappeared from his campsite at Vail Ranch early Monday morning.
His sister, Elizabeth Cooper, 43, first discovered he was missing around 5 a.m. Search efforts did not begin, however, until Cooper reported the incident to officials Monday night.
Riverside County Sheriff’s officials said they were waiting for proof of the man’s identity.
