U.S. Envoy Gets Too Close to Mugabe’s Home

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe’s guards briefly detained the U.S. ambassador after he entered a restricted security zone near the leader’s residence, state television reported.
The station said Ambassador Christopher Dell was held for half an hour by the Presidential Guard on Monday after he entered the restricted zone at the National Botanic Gardens, ignoring “No Entry” signs.
There was no immediate comment from Dell or the State Department.
