Warsaw’s Kaczynski to Be Next President

Warsaw Mayor Lech Kaczynski won Poland’s presidential runoff.
Kaczynski, who promised to preserve social safety-net protections that have eroded somewhat in the 16 years since the collapse of communism, defeated pro-free market legislator Donald Tusk.
With 91% of the votes counted, Kaczynski led Tusk 55.5% to 44.5%, election officials said.
