Corey Perry scored twice and fellow rookie Ryan Getzlaf added three assists in the Mighty Ducks’ 4-2 exhibition victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night at Vancouver, Canada.
Scott Neidermayer and Ruslan Salei, on a five-on-three power play, also scored, and Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 20 shots to help the Ducks improve to 2-1-1.
Ed Jovanovski, on a two-man advantage, and Markus Naslund, on another power play, scored in the third period for Vancouver, which has lost its first three preseason games.
Dan Cloutier, making his first appearance of the season after a bout with flu, made 23 saves before giving way to Brent Johnson to start the third.
Getzlaf set up both Neidermayer and Perry alone in front after stealing the puck deep in Vancouver’s end. Getzlaf added his third assist thanks to Perry’s pretty individual effort.
The Ducks sent forward Bobby Ryan, their first-round pick in the July entry draft, back to his junior hockey team and assigned defenseman Jordan Smith and center Pierre Parenteau to their American Hockey League affiliate in Portland, Maine.
Ryan, the No. 2 overall pick, played in his first game with the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League and had two goals and two assists in an 8-1 victory over the London Knights. Ryan practiced for the first time in Anaheim Wednesday after suffering a shoulder injury last month.
