Four unidentified gunmen killed a judge from the governing Palestinian movement Hamas today in the Gaza Strip town of Khan Yunis. Hamas officials and residents said Bassam Fara was a judge in a civil court but also a senior member of the faction’s armed wing.
The attack came amid spiraling tensions between Hamas and the rival Fatah faction of moderate Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, after Monday’s killing of three young sons of one of Abbas’ top intelligence officials.
