9 Die as Attackers Raid Oil Company

Camouflage-clad attackers raided an Italian oil company’s offices, sparking a gunfight that left nine people dead in Nigeria’s petroleum-rich south, where four foreign oil workers are being held hostage.
The attackers, wearing army-style uniforms, cruised up behind Agip’s riverbank facility in a speedboat, forced their way inside, stole about $28,000 in cash and exchanged fire with security forces, said Samuel Adetuyi, head of police in Port Harcourt.
Seven police, a plainclothes security official and a company employee died in the gunfight, which ended when the attackers fled in the boat, he said.
