Ideas for an interior life
This blog comes to you thanks to six former staff members of Budget Living, the 2-year-old lifestyle magazine that ceased publication in December. “We were so frustrated, we had so many ideas,” says Angela Matusik, former editor in chief who now works at People magazine’s website. “There’s a hunger for community and a sharing of ideas.”
So the gang of six, led by Matusik, launched Shelterrific in March to share ideas, tips and finds about home, food, crafting, gardening, cleaning and other topics. The blog is a work in progress -- it could be better organized and lacks depth. The chitchat is just beginning but the offerings are timely and fun: yummy gifts for grads -- cookies decorated with the student’s photo -- as well as a chic container for a condom stash and highlights from the recent International Contemporary Furniture Fair in Manhattan.
Shelterrific was conceived as a blog not only to share but also because, Matusik says, “We have to have other jobs to pay the rent. We hope to grow. Right now the goal is to be consistent. It’s still a baby.”
