Gagne Gives Flyers Shootout Victory

Simon Gagne scored in a sudden-death shootout after Freddy Meyer tied it with two-tenths of a second left in regulation, leading the Flyers to a 3-2 victory over the league-leading Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday night in Philadelphia.
Peter Forsberg scored to extend the shootout for Philadelphia, which has won consecutive games in shootouts after a four-game losing streak.
The Hurricanes, who have the best record in the league (43-14-5), had won five in a row.
Atlanta 3, N.Y. Rangers 2 -- Marian Hossa scored in the shootout to give the host Thrashers their third straight win, moving them to within one point of Montreal for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
Florida 6, Ottawa 2 -- Former King Jozef Stumpel and Nathan Horton scored two goals apiece to help the host Panthers end a three-game losing streak.
Washington 6, Pittsburgh 3 -- Rookie Alex Ovechkin scored his 42nd goal and had two assists to lead the Capitals past the Penguins at Washington.
