Bring your dancing shoes

Musically, Alison Goldfrapp comes across as a dominatrix with a soft side, so it’s no surprise the singer for British duo Goldfrapp often performs in stilettos. Fans attending the group’s headlining show at the Wiltern LG Saturday should, however, opt for more sensible shoes because the bump and grind inspired by the sexed-up, ultra-femme glam of the group’s third and most recent release, “Supernature,” is likely to be intense.
Released on Mute this week, the album is the group’s most danceable, sharing more sonic ground with the rhythmic cabaret of 2003’s “Black Cherry” than the pastoral electronic stylings of their 2000 debut, “Felt Mountain.” Topped with Goldfrapp’s sultry come-ons and fluttering vocals, the songs emphasize bandmate Will Gregory’s gritty synths over the strings the two seem to have favored in the past, and the result is pretty exciting.
“Ooh La La” isn’t just the name of the hit single from “Supernature,” but the reaction fans are having to the new record. When it was released in Britain last year, it debuted at No. 2 on the U.K. chart; it’s since been certified platinum.
In the U.S., Goldfrapp’s star is also rising. In addition to the Wiltern LG show, they will be playing “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” on Monday.
“I’m quite nervous about it actually,” Goldfrapp says. “We’re not a guitar band. We’re not plug-us-in-and-off-we-go, it’s always slightly more complex, so it’s always a bit like, ‘Oh God.’ ”
