From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Police Chief William J. Bratton has canceled a trip to Israel that had been slated to begin Thursday, deciding he had pressing matters to attend to in Los Angeles, a spokeswoman said.
Bratton is sending a deputy chief in his place to exchange information on policing and anti-terrorism strategies with Israeli counterparts.
The chief denied that his decision was related to a recent article in The Times reporting that Bratton spent 125 days last year out of town on business and personal trips.
