Minister Found Shot to Death; Wife a Suspect

A minister was found shot to death in his parsonage in Selmer, and his wife and three young daughters were found safe in Alabama after a daylong search.
Church members went looking for Matthew Winkler, 31, when he did not show up for a service at the Fourth Street Church of Christ. They used a pass key and found him dead in a bedroom. There were no signs of forced entry, authorities said.
Late Thursday, authorities said they considered his wife, Mary, 32, a suspect. She and the couple’s daughters were alone in the family’s van when a police officer spotted it parked on a road in Orange Beach, Ala., about 400 miles south of Selmer.
