Landowner Claims Self-Defense in Shooting

From Times Wire Reports

Hundreds of people attended the burial of a black man shot by one of Kenya’s wealthiest white landowners.

It was the second time in about a year that Tom Cholmondeley fatally shot a black man.

He told police that he shot Robert Wambugu in self-defense after finding him poaching. He has not been charged. Last year, he admitted shooting a ranger investigating reports of illegal wildlife trading. He said he thought the man was a robber, and charges were dropped.
