Council Approves 2.75% Increase in Water Rates

The City Council gave final approval Wednesday to increasing water rates by 2.75% this year and next to pay for improvements to the quality and security of the city’s water supply.
Department of Water and Power General Manager Ron Deaton said the rate increases also allow the agency to pay for reducing dust problems caused by the city taking water from the Owens Valley.
