With the regular season ending, this is my last full page, so let’s wrap up the playoffs.
The only way the local teams get out of the Western Conference’s first round is if they play each other. A freewheeling Phoenix-San Antonio semifinal series is followed by a grinding Dallas-San Antonio finals, which Dallas wins.
Detroit is primed for a quake along the Rasheed Wallace-Flip Saunders Fault. Miami might break down and be carried off before our eyes. LeBron James tries closing out games in those one-on-five “isolations.” Small, feisty Chicago comes through.
Ben Wallace breaks out his headband in the Finals, is benched by Coach Scott Skiles and says he caused the furor to motivate teammates. Dallas wins.
TV ratings challenge all-time lows. David Stern dismisses suggestions they seed the final four.
My pool is dead before the second round. Thanks for coming, and drive home safely.
