A 10-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department has pleaded not guilty to fraud charges after surrendering to authorities.
Officer David Hance, 38, was arrested Monday after turning himself in to face arraignment on charges of embezzlement and receiving stolen property.
Hance is suspected of taking department funds for his personal use, the LAPD said in a statement.
Hance was released on his own recognizance after entering his plea.
His lawyer, Bill Seki, said Hance surrendered as soon as he learned of the charges.
“He’s willing to stand up to the accusations made against him,” Seki said Tuesday.
