Suspected Muslim rebels sprayed gunfire at a mosque, killing at least five worshipers, and a roadside bomb killed 10 paramilitary troops in nearly simultaneous attacks in southern Thailand, the army said.
The bomb exploded on a road in Yala province as government-hired paramilitary rangers drove by, said army spokesman Col. Akara Thiprote.
Almost immediately after the bombing, an unknown number of assailants opened fire on a group of Muslim villagers leaving a mosque in Songkhla province, Akara said.
