More on Tying the Knot

J.R. Moehringer does not mourn the demise of the tie alone (“I Think Knot,” April 15). This female will miss the tie. It is a great conversation piece, an invaluable information tool and a nice icebreaker at a cocktail party. For a woman on the lookout for a new guy, no other garment tells of the man better than the tie. A good one says a lot. So does a bad one. Is it silk? Polyester? Conservative? Loud? Trendy? Wacky? Sport-themed? (ugh)
The tie also provides an easy opening line for a mojito-toting woman. How many of you have heard it? “Nice tie.”
I am not knocking the trend to dress down, but you guys should save the tie. Besides, you look good in them. Most important, what will people give for Father’s Day gifts?

Personally, I like men who wear ties. They signify class and culture. They never go out of fashion in L.A. They’re just being rudely ignored.
