President Bush said he was nominating James Caswell, a veteran public land official in Idaho, as director of the Interior Department’s Bureau of Land Management.
Caswell, 61, who heads Idaho’s Office of Species Conservation, would replace Kathleen Clarke, who stepped down in February. Jim Hughes has served as acting director since then. The appointment requires Senate approval.
