Surfing: In Wednesday’s Sports section, an item in Newswire said Mick Fanning clinched the 2007 world title before winning the final against Joel Parkinson because Fanning’s closest pursuers had been eliminated. Fanning clinched before his semifinal against Parkinson and defeated Kai Otton in the final.
